Skyway Title Services, LLC, a real estate title company, opened its doors on May 13, 2005, founded by Judy Thacker.
Judy and her husband, Bill, moved to Tennessee in 2002, making it their new home after vacationing in the area many times with their daughters through the years.
Before moving to Tennessee, Judy worked for real estate attorneys for 20 years. Bill served in the United States Army, is a Vietnam veteran, and owned successful businesses in both Florida and Virginia after his military service. When the couple settled in Sweetwater, Bill built a 2,000‑square‑foot shop where he operated his cabinet business until his retirement in 2022.
After working for a local title agency for a couple of years, Judy realized she wanted to obtain her title license and open her own business. Her goal was to offer professional title services to the community, grounded in family values, while building a secure future for her own family.
Although it was something she had never done before, Bill encouraged her every step of the way and helped in every way possible as Skyway Title Services, LLC became a reality on May 13, 2005. Bill custom built every piece of furniture in the office, pouring his craftsmanship into an inviting space that welcomed every customer who walked through the door.
Over the years, the company has built its reputation on trust, superior closing services, and a personal customer service approach with every client.
“One of the greatest joys in the title business is walking into a closing room to sit with a first‑time homebuyer and seeing the sheer joy on their face as the American dream becomes their own,” said Judy, “Every employee at Skyway Title Services can say that joy is priceless. Each closing brings a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, knowing the work done here is vital to serving the community.”
Skyway Title Services, LLC began as a family business with Judy and Bill working side by side. Bill was there every day, typing abstracts, answering phones, assisting customers, and conducting real estate closings.
Within a year of opening, both of Judy’s daughters, Angie and Melissa, joined the business and learned it from the ground up. There is no greater joy than a family working together each day, serving the public with quality title services and personal care.
As the company has grown, additional employees have joined the team, each one feeling like family and working under the same values the company was built upon.
Judy retired in December 2023 and looks on with pride as her daughters, Melissa and Angie, continue to operate the business with the same values established from day one. They remain committed to building trust with customers, providing superior closing services, and offering a personal customer service experience to every client.
