With more than three decades of restaurant experience behind him, Tom Bradley and his late wife, Sherri, opened Bradley’s BBQ on 5/5/05 with one goal in mind: to build a secure and lasting future for their family. What began as a dream has grown into one of Monroe County’s most beloved local brands.
Bradley’s carries the family name for a reason. The restaurant and its Sweet Side dessert shops are rooted in the Bradley family’s heritage, values, and hands‑on dedication. More than twenty years after opening its doors, Bradley’s remains locally owned, locally operated, and deeply connected to the community it serves. Its motto says it all:
“Family Made. Community Loved.”
“We’re a true family‑run business,” said Christina Buckner. “All of us work together to make Bradley’s what it is. We’re unique because Bradley’s is operated by our whole family, bringing a personal touch and hometown pride to everything we do.”
“One of the family’s proudest milestones was opening the first Sweet Side and then being invited to expand with a second Sweet Side location in downtown Madisonville,” Buckner added.
For the Bradleys, that invitation was more than an opportunity. It was a sign that their hard work and the community’s support were being recognized in a meaningful way.
“Seeing this come to life means so much to me because it’s a reminder that when a community believes in something, supports each other, and keeps planting seeds, beautiful things can happen,” said Karen Carey, Main Street Madisonville Director.
What drives the Bradley family every day is simple. They want to give back to the community that has supported them while building a strong foundation for the generations who will follow.
Tom’s father, Harold Bradley, played a major role in shaping that vision. He introduced Tom to the restaurant world as a teenager and instilled the work ethic and values that still guide the business today.
The Bradleys value their Chamber membership because they believe small businesses lift each other up in ways no one else can.
“The support, guidance, and genuine care they receive from Brandy, Taylor, and fellow members means a great deal to our family,” said Buckner.
The family’s impact in Monroe County truly comes from the heart with the relationships they have built over the years. Regular guests have become friends, and the Bradleys take pride in giving back to the community that has always stood behind them.
“What we enjoy most about doing business in Monroe County is the genuine connection we share with the people who live here. The support, loyalty, and hometown pride make it a wonderful place to grow a family business,” said Buckner.
Like many small businesses, Bradley’s has faced challenges, especially when adapting to rising costs and industry changes. Still, they remain committed to providing the quality and service their guests expect. Entrepreneurship has taught them to stay adaptable, patient, and willing to learn every day.
